About enamel
Enamel is made by applying a vitreous substance to molded steel plate (iron) and firing it at a high temperature of 850 degrees. An underglaze (vitreous: black color) is baked on top of the iron, and then an overglaze (vitreous: surface color) is baked on top of that. It is a material that has the characteristics of both iron, which is strong but prone to rust, and glass, which is brittle but beautiful.
Because the glazing is done by hand, there are individual differences in the appearance of each piece, such as unevenness due to unevenness in the glaze, underglaze showing through, etc. Also, dust (black spots) may adhere to the product in the high-temperature furnace during firing, but this will not affect the use of the product.
When firing, the product is hung by a hanging tool and placed in the furnace, so there will be some hanging marks on the back of the edge and other parts of the product. (This varies depending on the shape of the product.)
Due to the manufacturing process, it is difficult to apply glaze to the cut sections (edges) of the steel plate, and black streaks of the base material and underglaze may be visible.
