Description

Drawn as a straight column above a stepped foot, with a ribbed collar at the rim and a spout that runs almost level from the body. The rose at the end breaks the flow into a slow even spread, so soil is not displaced around the base of a plant.

Cut, rolled and soldered by hand from galvanised steel. Part of Objetos de Hojalata para el Hogar, Fabien Cappello's series made with the tinsmith workshops of Guadalajara.

Fabien Cappello

Objetos de Hojalata para el Hogar

Fabien Cappello is a designer working across furniture, lighting and objects, based in Guadalajara, Mexico since early 2020.

Not long after arriving he encountered hojalatería, the Mexican craft of shaping household objects by hand from thin sheets of galvanised steel.

Rather than reproduce the traditional forms, his studio spent time with those workshops and then designed new pieces made entirely by the existing craft. Objetos de Hojalata para el Hogar is the collection that came out of that work.

Everyday shapes, made the way they have always been made.
